I Love my job
This isn’t going to be one of those posts where I tell you I was born in a darkroom, or that I developed an eye for photography before I could walk. This is about why I do what I do – and why I love it.
My background is in magazine design, and that means dealing with photography, and photographers every day. So when it came to getting married I thought that choosing a photographer was going to be easy – but we found it one of the hardest things to decide on whilst planning our wedding. Luckily we found a fantastic photographer – but it was a long search.
What surprised me was the standard of photography out there. I saw a lot of work that I felt looked contrived and staged, more worryingly I saw tired and dated ideas that needed to be moved on. In short, I didn’t feel that wedding photographers were offering couples what they wanted. Wedding photography isn’t cheap (I won’t bore you in explaining why this is), but if couples book a wedding photographer they should receive a first-class service, top quality images and a photographer who works damned hard to achieve this.

Unique record
Some couples simply look for a photographer to ‘cover their wedding’. I believe wedding photography can be, and should be, far more than this. Your images are a unique record of your day and family – and after all the expense of a wedding, one of the few things you actually get to keep! Your photos are not just for now, they are for your children and future generations to enjoy. So in an age where most of our images are on our phones and scattered over social media, wedding photography is an opportunity to put down something more permanent leave a lasting record of an amazing day.
So if your want to discuss YOUR big day, and what you want from your wedding photography get in touch and we’ll meet for a coffee (did I mention I love coffee?).
